Garmin-Slipstream’s Cameron Meyer will join team-mate David Millar at the Edinburgh Nocturne on Saturday 30th May.

At just 21, the Australian ace rode to victory at the 2009 World Track Championships in the points race. Rapha-Condor’s Chris Newton joined Meyer on the podium with a bronze medal, and will also line up at the Edinburgh Nocturne.

“I am really looking forward to coming to Edinburgh. It will be my first time to the city and from what I have seen and heard it will be a real treat. The atmosphere for the race will be incredible and I can't wait to come and compete,” said Meyer.

“I expect the racing to be of top standard with many world class riders in the field. It will be a hard, fast and exciting race. The Nocturne Series catches the attention of professional riders and with great venues, big crowds and top racing, I am very happy to of been invited to race.”

The pro-team addition provides another challenge for the leading UK teams to take on the Garmin duo in the Elite Criterium. The pair will arrive fresh out of the Giro d’Italia, where Millar has been riding to regain form after a broken collarbone and Meyer has been riding for Grand Tour experience.

“The Giro has been an unbelievable experience with very hard racing. I will come to the Edinburgh Nocturne race with good fitness after racing the Giro and hope to perform well at the event,” he added.

The Edinburgh Nocturne is free to attend and will take place around Edinburgh’s Grassmarket between 6pm and 10pm on Saturday 30th May.
