Rapha Condor Blackpool Sportive

Saturday 1st August 2009 sees the inaugural Rapha Condor Blackpool Sportive, which is set to coincide with the Blackpool Nocturne in the evening of the same date. Riders and spectators will be able to see and meet the Rapha Condor team which is one of the best teams in the UK. You will be able to have pictures taken and receive autographs from the pros. There will be plenty happening at the start HQ along with trade stands from Rapha Performance Cycle Clothing and the world famous Condor Bike manufacturer.
The Sportive event consists of 2 routes. A 58 mile flatter course or an 85 mile hillier route that takes in some spectacular views on top of Calder Fell. The first Sportive rider is scheduled to start at 9.30am from the Solaris Centre, Blackpool with a great send off. The routes will be fully signed with along course marshals and there will be feed stations along the routes, which will be sponsored by SIS nutrition. Both routes run along the coast and then onto some lovely quiet country roads and beautiful Lancashire Countryside which is part of the National Cycle Networks.
Riders looking at completing the course in the best time, for the short and long route, will be awarded with prizes from Rapha Condor. Chip timing devises are supplied for all event riders by Sports Systems.
The Sportive is being supported by the Blackpool Council who are also supporting the Blackpool Nocturne which is being held during the evening of the 1st August. Riders and spectators can benefit from discounted hotel rates in Blackpool and can make a full weekend of the event by riding the Sportive and then watching the spectacular racing events at the Nocturne.
